IN CHARACTER
♦ Do not control other members' characters. - This is called power playing and is not acceptable on roleplaying sites. They are his or her's to roleplay, not your's, and should be written as such. When carrying out an action that involves physical interaction, replace things such as "he punched him in the face" to "he moved to punch him in the face".♦ Do not make your character invincible. - Despite your character able to have powers, they can't make them invincible. If they were to be stabbed through the chest, they wont be perfectly fine. Be reasonable with this please!
♦ Keep posts in past tense, third person. - This is not so much of a rule to obey so much as a helpful suggestion, seeing as we like to promote creativity in all forms, but it would be a little strange to swap between one post in the aforementioned point of view to a second person, present tense voice. It just keeps everything more uniform. If you are used to other point of views and are struggling to make the switch, we won't hound you about it, but at least give it a try.
♦ Write something your fellow roleplayer can reply to. - The exception, is obviously, when closing a thread. However, every post before that must involve one character doing or saying something another character is able to react to. It is rather annoying when one character will leave a thread at random without any clear end point, so we ask that you either come to an agreement over finishing a thread or make sure that there are one or more other characters that can still participate in the thread you are leaving.
♦ Keep posts to a one hundred word minimal. - We all shudder in disgust at the sheer thought of posts with merely one sentence - you know it to be true - and so, to prevent that from happening, we have set up a very, very small word limit for your posts. You are welcome, though - encouraged, even - to go as above and beyond that as you wish.
♦ Make good use of the spell check. - We do not expect your spelling to be absolutely perfect one hundred percent of the time, but if you are prone to silly spelling errors, we ask that you use it frequently. It is your friend. Be friendly with it. After all - typos can lead to confusion, and confusion can lead to mistakes.
OUT OF CHARACTER
♦ Respect. - It's as simple as that. Respect. Respect yourself, respect your staff, respect your fellow members, respect wandering guests. Respect. You don't have to be the most friendly person in the world - just don't be the meanest.♦ Keep your fighting to a minimum. - We know sometimes others can irritate you a bit, but don't go picking fights left and right. Be kind to others and they will be kind to you in turn. If you feel you must argue with someone else, keep it outside the site. We don't want the chat box being flooded with hurtful comments or the out of character boards and private messages.
♦ If you are leaving us, please leave a notice on the board. - This can be anything from a day or so absence to leaving the site forever. We can understand if it's something that comes up on a short notice, but if it's something that will keep you from role playing that you know in advance, you must let us know. You might be thought to be inactive, other wise, and risk getting your accounts deleted.
♦ Log in as frequently as you can. - Even if you are too busy to post much, it is nice to know that you're still alive and kicking. It is understandable if you're too busy for even that, but a log in a week would be highly appreciated.
♦ Do not post in character things in the out of character boards. - Exceptions to this are forum games meant for in character reactions. Aside from that, keep everything out of character - that's why it's called what it is.
CHARACTER
♦ Watered down superpowers are eligible for blessings. If your character is a blessed character, their blessing may be a superpower. However, keep in mind that, if it is a super power - the ability to control fire or telekinesis - it will be very weak from the get-go. Fires you start can be no larger than what you could make from a match, for example, and telekinetic powers would either be something that you could only do every so often with a great deal of effort, or something done completely out of your control and still not in tier with the super heroes we know and love. They can be stronger if your character has completed their task, but they still won't be as strong as what you're used to.
♦ You must have one account per character. - No more. No less. You should only have as many accounts as you have characters, as well, unless you are a staff member. Also, when registering, your username should be your character's first name, for tagging purposes, and your display name should be your character's name in all caps.
♦ You are only allowed as many characters as you so choose. - However, please make sure that you are active with all characters. We ask you refrain from making fifteen characters and only logging in and roleplaying with two of them. Know your own personal limits, and we won't have to set official site limits, ourselves.
GENERAL
♦ Avatars should be the proper sizes - Your big image must be 200x300 and your little ones must be 100x100. We would like our board to look nice! So please help us do that~♦ Signatures should be no more than five hundred pixels wide. - They are unable to stretch the board, but it's nice to have an image without a good chunk of the right side cropped. They may be as tall as you wish, though we ask you don't go over five hundred pixels.
♦ Enjoy your stay. - We hope that you thoroughly enjoy your time spent here with us, short or long as it may be. After all, that's the entire point of the site! Welcome to Count Your Blessings!
