She never did like going home. Well, at this point, she didn't even feel like it could be called 'home'. It was just a place where she went after work. A place of cold feelings and filled with negativity. Her parents she was sure, weren't too worried about where she was or what she was doing. They were just happy getting the extra money from well, wherever they got it, in order to 'Take care' of her. But she didn't eat much, and their idea of a bedroom was a sleeping bag, a small plastic table, and a bookshelf. She didn't let it bother her most of the time, but within a rather empty space like that, she got lonely a lot. It would have been nice to have some company, at least once in a while. But she didn't really have any friends either, so, it honestly worked out to where she would just sit on her own and read, or something like that. Her own company was her greatest companion. That and an occasional stray cat that would slip into her open window.
But the walk today was pretty much no different from usual. Except it was about 11:30. Normally, she got out of work around 8ish, but today, they had been hosting a party, and she offered to stay for the night plus cleanup time. It had taken quite a long time, but she didn't really want to go home, so she foolishly took the long way home. She was so careful though, she didn't think anything would happen as long as she was on her toes. Oh but she was wrong. There were a few people about, but no one in District Four really cared much for one another's business. So when the girl was suddenly shoved into an alley, her notebook knocked from her hands. she was pretty much defenseless. There was a man. She could feel him pressing her roughly against the wall, in a grip that simply refused to let her go. He wanted something with her. she writhed, trying to to make a sound, but he pulled her scarf down, and she turned her head to avoid his dirty face. Her breath came out in clouded wisps and she tried to push him away, but he pinned her the more she struggled. She started shouting, uncharacterized crying out, but it was the only way she could get attention. He clamped his hand over her mouth but quickly recoiled as a daggering chill coursed through his hand. A chilly wind gushed from the alley, and anyone in a half mile or so of a radius would be able to feel a cold chill. Bits of ice begain clinging to anything, everything it could find. But as much as she wanted to, Wynter could not stop it until this man was off of her. She needed someone. Anyone. tags: JAIME PETERSONwords count: 485 out of character: Hope I set that up right, here you go~ MADE BY LILO OF GS |

╰ℝ╮The night is still young, and by whichever God with a twisted sense of humor who had created him be damned. Having the aspiration to be a symbol of hope and justice is complicated, even moreso when you don't have the appropriate powers or authority to do it. You're left to use whatever it is in your arsenal, and for Jaime, besides his acrobatic and fighting capabilities, it was his knowledge with various of scientific field. Be it electrical or just simple mechanics for physics, he believed he has to have an deep understanding about them. Where do you learn them? Books. What do you need to read books? Sight. Not only is he forced to make use of his time to patrol, but also to learn. Luckily for him, he had managed to hack in the local police station's radio. On top of the roof of an abandoned building he read his book about hardware programming, while so listening in the radio that was mentioned earlier.
With a flip of a page the radio suddenly started to rumble about something interesting, instead of the usual dad jokes these cops come up with. Reports of an odd activity two blocks away from where he is. He closed the book then placed it on top of a pile of books before covering it with a blue plastic-like sheet. He crouched right on the edge of the roof, using the end as his boost. With his legs bent he shot himself forward with great leg strength, catching the fire escape's metal ladder. He moved up then ran again in the roof, causing a bit of racket for whoever lived in these shoddy apartments. He traveled from building to building, as always, unless of course it was impossible for him to reach. The stinging cold immedietly caught his attention, causing him to shudder from the sudden change as he approached the scene closer. It came to the point in which he had to stop seeing that the area is unnaturally cold and icy. The puddle on this roof literally just turned into ice, the texture on it denotes so. This situation is definitely a different ball game.
He heard a man screaming, almost muffled. Judging from the sound, their own throat. A naturally reaction to shock. The cold didn't deliver much damage to him yet due to his distance and the things he wore, in which he's thankful for once. From the front, he saw the man fleeing the area, "Why?" he wondered. What should he do from here? His instinct instructed him to get down from the roof. Jaime complied, deciding to approaching this straight on. Maybe it's a mistake, maybe it's not. The young boy is unsure.
Pulling in his cloak closer to his body to try and keep himself warm, the superhero known as The Red finally makes an appearance to this.. girl? A helpless looking young girl. Things definitely escalated beyond his expectation this time. What should he do now? He's never had a situation like this. Fact, the blessed and cursed people he had ran into definitely had milders gifts. Acting right out instinct again, he presented himself with the spotlight to show off his costume and red mask. The Red appeared before her with a "..Hey there." Awkward? Probably.

It was scary to watch. The Power she held was not a power she had ever wanted. She didn't want this. She didn't want him to get hurt, even if had tried to hurt her. She hated this. Anytime she opened her mouth, things began freezing over. And so, the man backed off, eventually running away, but someone new had taken his place. Was she...supposed to be afraid? Was he going to hurt her too? Though...his outfit told her otherwise. There was this...this novice superhero, his name, it had been...what was it? Oh yes. The Red...? That was it! He wasn't here to hurt her...but...was he here to apprehend her? She hadn't meant to do anything wrong! She backed up against the wall, her breathing ragged from the fear she had just experienced. But she was quick to wrap the scarf back around her face, shielding the area from more damage. She grabbed her notebook and looked back at the Red. Writing something quickly, she showed it to him. 'Please...I'm not trying to hurt anyone, I promise.'
It was then she heard police sirens, and she jumped. She really didn't want to go to jail. She hadn't wanted to cause this. She didn't want the police to think she was some kind of super villain, all she wanted to do was get out of here. She looked to the boy in front of her again and began writing, before flipping it around and showing it to him. "Could you please help me get out of here, I didn't mean to cause any trouble..!" Even the writing was voiced with a plea as she stood there looking at the odd superhero that had presented himself to her. MADE BY LILO OF GS |

╰ℝ╮Thus far he seemed safe. The Red did the right move to say hi first despite it being painfully awkward for the both, at least it eliminated some sense of threat from her. He started inching closer slowly, but it came to a halt whenever she moved. Better safe than sorry. Even though the other simply reached for her notebook to write, he didn't want take any chances. When she showed him what he wrote, he had to lean forward to get a better view. Not trying to hurt anyone, voice inside his head read. Going by instinct once more, he let the magic of his mouth do its thing. "I know, I know! You're just waaaay too cool for some of us. I get it." a small joke to try and lighten up the atmosphere.
As soon as he even decided to start moving closer again, he noticed the sirens closing in which made him jerk his body's direction towards where it came from. Fortunately, it wasn't behind him just yet. He turned his attention back to the redhead, only to notice she wrote something else. Help her. What now? He asked himself, to assist her out of here would be obstruction of justice, the very thing he stands up for. He had to break such idiotic way of thinking, reacknowledging the fact that the authority's procedural justice arguably has numerous of mistakes. The Red should be like the heroes in his comic books, a vigilante. Somewhere who can see things beyond.
They have only a minute, and being in this alley is already a great disadvantage. They can't run for it either, she didn't look the type at least. He needs to hatch an idea, and so he did. Ignoring the cold he let his cape escape from his grip, then quickly climbing up a fire escape's ladder by jumping on top of a big garbage bin, using the same momentum to jump and reach for it. Forcing his upperbody strength to do work, he climbed up and then made it rest so it reaches the floor. The Red then motions his hand towards her to get over exactly where he is. "I need you to climb up, okay? Up the roof. Stay there if you can. Also when you reach the top of the ladder, I'm going to need you to pull it up and lock it again, alright?" His plan was simple, let her climb up the case and while she did, he becomes a distraction. This way it was easier for them to lose the cops.

Somehow, she has expected him not to listen to her plea, but he did. She noticed he seemed a bit torn as he read it. Well that was true. He was the superhero, wasn't he? And how it looked, at the moment, she was the bad guy. But she really hoped he'd help her. She looked down at her scarf as it gathered small icy fractals from her breathing. Thankfully, the scarf blocked it from harming anyone, or causing any damage. It kept it at bay. She watched him as he moved, amber eyes following The Red's movements to a T. Just what was he doing? She hurried to where he was quickly when he motioned to her, staring up at him as he explained what he wanted her to do. She nodded quickly and took the ladder in her grap. Holding the Notebook under her arm, she climbed, pulling the ladder up when she reached it, proceeding to climb up the rest of the stairs as fast as possible. His telling her to go had spurred her on, and she had no time to write to answer him. She was just running now. Finally, she reached the top of the building. She didn't know where she was supposed to go now, but she crouched down, so that nobody might see her. Of course this would look suspicious. She was evading the authorities. But she really hadn't meant to be so much trouble. Her mind focused back on The Red. Was he going to be okay? Well, she doubted they'd arrest him, but how was he going to talk them down? She was sitting now, clutching the notebook to her chest and shaking. This was all much more than she had hoped to go through tonight. MADE BY LILO OF GS |

╰ℝ╮The Red thought he had more time, just as he saw the girl finally get up and pull the ladder as he instructed, and when he turned towards the metal fence that turned this very alley into a dead end; he heard the siren get loud enough to denote they're close by. An audible thud coming from the door of the car being closed, then a few footsteps shows a couple of men in blue uniform.
"You? You're that Red guy everybody's been blabbering about! What did you do here?"
"Calm down, calm down. I know what you're thinking.. And I can explain." was his retort, both cops just raised their brows towards each other, before redirecting their attention back to him.
With one hand on his hip and the other gesturing as he spoke, he explained. "Ehhh, long story short, I wanted to snow cone machine shaped like a rocket. And who knew, it actually flew up."
"That's crazy.."
"Yeah! It's out of this world, figuratively and literally.. Like, I don't think it's coming back.. Ever.."
"You're going to have to come with us." The taller cop said as both started approaching. The Red had to turn his head back to look at the alley and his distance for a second, trying to figure out how to get over it. With the tall man approaching and two steps back, the masked hero raised both of his hands. Once the man was close enough he brought both arms down to his shoulders, pushing himself up and using his leather belt as a ledge for him to use. Thanks to the boost, The Red managed to flip over the metal fence succesfully. Everything happened too fast for the cops, and when they realized he was making a run for it, they only started to pull out their gun but he was already too far.
The chase went on, the cops asked for back up and losing them was harder than Jaime expected. First he had to try and stray them from alley to alley, but it seemed they knew the shortcuts around the area just well as he does so he had to resort traveling in the more crowded area of the district. Through the commercial spots and crowd he tried to lose them, but the attention kept making his track fresh. The young boy was forced to resort to another move, he entered the club. People dressed colorful attire, with strong light dynamically shining the darkness the shrouded the vicinity they lost the boy. The Red made an escape out the back. To secure this, he continued to move to the street before coming back up the roofs.
It took severals minutes, maybe an hour even to return to where he asked the girl to wait. The Red should have known better. The local authorities here in District Four were more persistent than others. The masked hero made quite the racket before he finally set foot on the roof where he asked her to wait. He managed to bump into the clotheslines then into the pile of boxes, which was odd since normally the darkness would be his friend. It seems the adrenaline's aftermath has rendered him a little but clumsier than the usual.
"Hey, you there?"

It might have been midnight. Wynter didn't know, really. She hadn't looked at her phone since this whole mess started. She was lost and she wasn't sure exactly what she was supposed to be doing. Was she supposed to wait for him? He had instructed her to wait here, so he'd show up, right? She hoped so. He had saved her and she had to both thank him, and maybe explain what had happened. But the waiting got tiring and she soon fell asleep, lulled to sleep by the quiet on the rooftop. It was late, and she was in fact tired. She didn't hear the soft footfalls, but she eventually heard someone call out to her. A familiar voice. Groggily, she opened her eyes, rubbing them and standing. The soft footsteps were quickly turned into crashing and she jumped, but she stepped from the shadows anyway. The Red had indeed come. She looked at him gratefully for a few moments, before looking to her notebook. She held up a hand, the gesture asking him to wait as she wrote something down. "I am sorry about that. Thank you very much for saving me." She held that up for a few moments so he could read it all, and then turned the notebook to face her again, scribbling down something else. "Before you got there, I was attacked. I didn't know what to do and things were getting out of hand. The only thing I could do was scream but...that only creates bad things for everyone, yeah?" She was still focused on him, before she realized she hadn't introduced herself, but she was afraid to bring up the fact she was cursed with this horrible...thing. ╰ℝ╮Thanks to the clothesline he was pretty much forced to rid himself of the tangle, but he also had to bend over and place the boxes back to where they were, this time out of conscience. It was only after his short episode was he able to lock her eyes to the girl, whom seemed to be around his age as well. As a good judge of people by means of appearance and signs, his deducation should be correct. He said no words yet, as instead he observed her movements. She started writing again. The Red read.
Before he could speak after her first written statement to show her gratitude, he had to pause again seeing that she gestured back to writing. She explained to him what happened, and given the time that already passed, already figured out that much. Without a doubt, District Four is known for its notorious shady activities in the background, which easily gives fruit to bad eggs populating the streets. Now he could finally speak, or not.. She started writing again, The Red stopped. This time though, she introduced herself.
"Nice to meet you.. Well I'm, you guessed it, The Red." he introduced himself, as per proper etiquette calls for. Although he has been doing this whole superhero gig for almost a month now, it's still feels weird for him to introduce himself without using his name. He's trying his best to get used to it since there's no way he'll be risk compromising his alter-ego, but still it was weird. The human brain works in funny ways sometimes. He took a few steps forward to approach her, with his ever so charming smile and red mask he presented himself under the moonlight. Trying to make himself look docile as he can by acting chill about the situation. "Listen, Wynts. This neighborhood is really dangerous, more so for a person like you. The cops might have been worse than the guy attacking you, because who knows who's pulling the strings there. Anyway, are you from around here?" He had to ask, and dully noting that he added an extra 'S' at the end of her desired moniker.

The Red was a very interesting person, this she was sure of. Were Superheroes...even ordinary people? Sure, in the comics, they had Superpowers, and things like that. But of course, that was in fiction, right? Then again...curses were normally fiction too. She looked at The Red again. Yes, he seemed rather normal to her. But he still saved her when there was trouble. Was that what being a Superhero actually meant? She blinked, looking at him from over her scarf as he spoke to her. His smile was indeed charming, but once again, maybe that was another thing about Superheroes. Whatever the case, she turned a bit pink but was able to hide it under her scarf well enough. She couldn't show him her smile, however, because it was something you just couldn't unmask with her certain condition. She frowed behind her scarf as he described district four as a "dangerous neighborhood". Of course she knew that. Picking up her pad again, she wrote something down, showing it back to him when she was done. "I do live here, it was the only place we could afford. Normally I get out of work early but today things happened and I was late." She explained through neat penmanship. She guessed by now that The Red knew she wasn't normal, but she tried to lead a normal life the best she could. She had fooled most people she knew into believing she was a mute, so no one would try and make her use her words and very dangerous voice. "I take it you live around here too? Or is that something you don't ask Superheroes?" She asked. The way her eyes were smiling and the silent snicker she let out would tell him she was joking, but if he really didn't want to tell her then he wouldn't have too. MADE BY LILO OF GS |

╰ℝ╮In truth, he was still a greenhorn when it comes to being a superhero. Which explains his rather uncomfortable approach he decided to go with the whole situation going down. Well at least he got the costume accurate, by means of classic superhero costumes that is. Red for the top and black for the bottom, inside out underpants and details of more black such as his gloves, elbow protector, and cape. All in all, still, it was spandex. Tonight he wore a red mask outlining the area around his eyes and in-between, but there are also times he wears the black one since he couldn't personally decide which would look better. He figured why not just rotate both.
The Red is very perceptive when it comes to human gesture, as it was useful not only for combat but also for the detective part of being a supehero. The blush might have been hidden, but there are other subtle signs. In any case however, he didn't bother to prod.
He took a good look at what she wrote as a response to his question. He nodded and was about to speak, but stopped himself once again and started thinking he should just probably wait next time. The Red scratched his head while she continued to write and when she was done, he focused once again. A rather personal question, in fact too personal. At least she had the right idea that there are things you shouldn't ask a vigilante. "Come on, don't make me answer that. Otherwise I'll have to drop the cheesy line of 'I am always inside everyone's heart' or 'Justice'. I'm everywhere and anywhere, at least when The Red is awake."
Now that she seemed in a conversing mood, he took the opportunity to ask about what happened earlier. The Red after all believes in the saying of 'Prevention is better than cure'. In a blunt manner, he asked. "What happened earlier? How'd you do it? I mean, I'm just concerned."

She was smiling. His answer was one she had figured she would get. She thought it was funny, though she had always been one for lamer lines and jokes. She didn't know what it was, but she felt rather relaxed now, and it was probably because he was being so friendly towards her. Whatever the case, she was finally calming down after such a scary ordeal. It was then he asked what had happen and she froze. How were you supposed to explain something like that? She bit her lip beneath her scarf. Was she supposed to tell him? It wasn't like you could freeze a very large area in such a small amount of time, right? Not by Normal means anyway. There was no magic hat trick you could pull to something like that, that was certain. She looked more timid as she wrote something down in her book again, before holding it up to him. "Please don't think I'm crazy, okay?" She knew that maybe he was a superhero, and maybe, it was just his job to be so friendly with her, but she for some reason, didn't want him to think she was too crazy to maybe, well, be friends with. After waiting for his answer, she took the pad in her hands again. "I have this...curse. If I talk, or breath without my scarf, things start to freeze..everything gets cold." She explained, quickly continuing. "I can't control it, so I communicate like this. When that man started attacking me, I couldn't think of anything else to do but yell. I didn't mean to cause trouble." She added. She was waiting for him to call her crazy and leave. She was sure that's what most people would do. MADE BY LILO OF GS |

╰ℝ╮One thing he can never seperate from his alter-ego's personality is being an extrovert. Naturally outgoing, he has a way with words and action that made people just simply like him despite his flaws. Even in broad daylight when he is blind, people tend to ignore those who are handicapped, specifically blind, but his stranger can easily be lulled into his charisma.
The Red noticed her stiffen a little, his sharp eyes always captures any form of quirk since reading them can give numerous of advantages. Perhaps it was a little too early, nevertheless the result wasn't so bad. She told him about it. Quietly, he listened; moreso read. Each and every letter he felt sorry for her, empathetic at her situation since he was cursed as well. He drew closer to her, but only to make his way to the ledge and sit down. Both of his legs still feel a bit sore from all the running he did earlier.
"You wanna know a superhero secret? I'm cursed too." The statement seemed to come out of reflex, as he was also surprised he just confessed without hesitation. Although he felt a bit of guilt stirring inside, he knew he needed to lie. A vague white one. "I'm cursed to be lost forever. To spiral down in the never ending void of despair, there was only darkness there. No one helped me, so rather I helped myself. Instead of waiting for the light, I created light.. And in light, you create hope." He said. It was a lie, that wasn't his curse but there was some sort of hint there. All lies are created from a kernel of truth after all.
He curled a new smile, radiating the very form he mentioned earlier. "You work, don't you? So clearly you still believe there's hope. Don't lose that. In fact, I'll help you. Let's figure out your task, or just find a work around that. Science can also make magic!" He continued. The Red was offering, he was a superhero after all. He didn't have no big responsibility or notoriety to manage just yet so he figured, why not?

Wynter watched him closely looking for a reaction. Maybe she didn't have great perception like he did, but she was kind of hoping he didn't think she was insane. Curses sounded bizarre to most people, after all. But somehow, he seemed more...sympathetic, than anything. Her parents never gave her look like that. No one who was actually aware of her curse, really cared about her well being, just how they could conceal it. The Red, she didn't know him too well, so she could very well be confusing condemning with sympathy, but she wanted to believe it was the second thing. He drew close and then past her, to go sit on a ledge. She timidly followed after him, sitting close beside him, but not so close it would be uncomfortable. Her eyes widened as she listened to him. He was cursed too? Then why was he a superhero? At first it made no sense, but she took a minute to think about it, staring down at the ground. They were so far above the world right now, on this tall building. She was a bit scared, sitting on the ledge like this, but she wasn't alone, so it was okay, wasn't it? What he said next made her freeze. He wanted to help her? Her task wasn't clear to her yet, but it was the first time anyone had ever offered to help her find out what it was. She looked torn for a moment. She had wanted nothing but help. She didn't want to be burdened with this anymore. Wanted to laugh and talk just like everyone else, but she simply wasn't allowed. But on the other hand, it would be another task to burden the young hero. But he seemed so sincere with the offer. She looked down again, red bangs falling over her eyes. But a moment later, she looked back up at him, lightly pulling down her scarf. She smiled at him, of course her mouth remained closed, but it was a very important thing for her to be able to show him some kind of gratitude. She gently pulled her scarf back up, adjusting it over her face again, before turning back to her Notebook. "Thank you. I've been trying to figure out my task for a very long time, but it still isn't clear to me." She explained, pausing so he could read it before going back to writing. "Ice is beautiful. But I don't want to harm anyone, and that's all this curse will do." She explained. "But you're very kind." It was the most kindness anyone has displayed to her in a long time. MADE BY LILO OF GS |

╰ℝ╮To be honest, the all might masked superhero is scared at the thought already. He's never done anything similar, given that he's just new to this whole ordeal. It was only natural that he started to feel the small seed of anxiety planted in his mind already. The thought of failure, the thought of broken promises, the thought of being a disappointment. The feeling definitely radiated a familiar tone that of his life. It reflected pretty well seeing that he's been crippled by misfortune that lead to his parent's neglection.
The Red turned focused his eyes on her notebook again, reading carefully. He nodded at the first one then gave her a moment to start writing again. With the second statement present, he read once more. "Eh, it's no biggie. I mean geez, what kind of superhero am I if I just make an ass of myself. Totally not one of those anti-hero kind of guys, eugh." he said. By means of taste, the boy underneath the mask really disliked the whole concept of anti-heroes. They were basically heroes who'd rather do it the easy way or the type to just be selfish even if they're donning the cape. In his opinion, they were simply terrible. "Well we can start with the marking on your forehead, if anyone told you about that. Do you remember? What's it like? It'd better if you can draw it." he stated.
He waited. He should at least have something to work on. The Red however hasn't let the thought of his patrol go just yet, he knew he should resume soon as his time of justice is only active during the darker half of the day.

She paused. Her marking... she lightly reached up to touch her forehead. Her Parents had once said, the marking had gone away when she was three, but they had her draw with every new notebook she got, so she wouldn't forget what it was. Maybe they'd treat her right if the curse ever went away, but somehow, that didn't seem likely. So when he asked her about her mark, She gave him a soft nod. She leaned over the book as she began to draw. It started with a heart, but she left two spaces on either side, just as she was taught. In that place, she drew one snowflake, followed by another on the other side. They looked different, but snowflakes were supposed to look that way. Not one was supposed to be the same. the edges of both were touching. She continued drawing, finalizing it when she drew wisps of fire around it. Finally done, she pulled the page with the sketch right from the book, carefully handing it to The Red. It may have not been the best drawing, but you could tell what everything was. Finally, she placed her Notebook down in her lap she she could write. If the the Red was still looking at the drawing, she would have tapped his shoulder gently before holding up her book. "I'm still trying to understand it. I always thought it had to do with melting something but...that just sounds silly, doesn't it?" She asked, shyly sinking behind her scarf again.
